On January 1, 2012 Chris Armstrong and Diana Hastings joined their professional corporations in a new California law partnership known as Armstrong and Hastings LLP for the purpose of enhancing their delivery of high quality personal tax and estate planning services to multi-jurisdictional families.
Chris began his legal career in New York with Coudert Brothers after graduating from Columbia Law School, acquired a master’s degree in taxation at the NYU Law School and thereafter spent nearly a decade practicing as a foreign lawyer in Hong Kong with Heller Erhman where he developed a practice directed at serving the needs of families whose members or assets or both were situated both inside and outside the United States. Chris retired as a Heller Ehrman shareholder at the end of December 2004 and immediately thereafter established Christopher S. Armstrong, P.C. He began collaborating with Diana on both international and domestic estate and tax planning projects in November 2007.
Diana began her legal career in New York with Milbank Tweed and returned to California in 1988 where she practiced with the Pillsbury and Orrick firms before opening her own law offices. Diana established herself as a leading California domestic estate planner with the publication, along with her co-author, Sandra Chan, of the CALIFORNIA ESTATE AND GIFT TAX PLANNING FORMS & PRACTICE MANUAL which is continuously updated. Diana, by reason of her business degree and her work with the Office of Foreign Investment, US Department of Commerce prior to attending Cornell Law School, brings a special perspective to the solution of international estate planning and structuring challenges.
